Many times when two people get involved in a committed relationship rather quickly it is simply because they think they don't want to see anybody else.
More often than not the relationship becomes a committed relationship because the woman asked for it to be exclusive.
The man simply agreed because he didn't want to be with anyone else anyways.
Getting involved in a committed relationship with a woman simply because you don't want to see anyone else is never a good idea; especially early on.
Mainly, because the beginning of a relationship is always bound to have a certain level of infatuation to it
In other words, with or without being in a committed relationship she is only going to be with you.
When a woman wants to be in an exclusive relationship she will be in an exclusive relationship with you even if you don't agree to be in one with her.
Your agreement with her also puts her in control of the relationship because she now knows you aren't seeing anybody else and only want to be with her.
What this really means is her attraction level actually goes down while yours goes up.
If she is really willing to settle down it means she will begin settling in the relationship (gaining weight, decreased sex drive, etc...)
If she is not willing or ready to settle down it means she will begin looking for another man and eventually cheat on you or simply leave you if she is a woman who has a certain amount of moral decency.
In the end, as a man, you must never get involved in a serious and committed relationship early on simply because you don't want anybody else and she asked you to or you risk losing the very thing that was the reason for the agreement in the first place.
